Specifically, but not by limitation, TCRA is organized for the following purposes:

(a) To provide an opportunity for the exchange of experiences and opinions through discussion, study, and publications.
(b) To promote the profession of machine shorthand reporting and educate members and the public in the advancement, improvement, and uses of machine shorthand reporters.
(c) To conduct competitions and present awards for outstanding ability.
(d) To develop and encourage high standards of personal and professional conduct among machine shorthand reporters.
(e) To conduct and cooperate in courses of study for the continuing education of machine shorthand reporters; to hold meetings and conferences for the mutual improvement and education of members.
(f) To acquire, preserve, and disseminate data and valuable information relative to the functions and accomplishments of machine shorthand reporters.
(g) To cooperate with local, regional, and national shorthand reporters’ associations in the common endeavor to advance machine shorthand reporting as a profession.
(h) To cooperate with federal, state, and local government authorities for the good of the communities and the machine shorthand reporting profession.
(i) To promote the purpose and effectiveness of machine shorthand reporting by any and all means consistent with the public interest.
(j) To promote TCRA’s Mission Statement and Vision Statement as incorporated by reference herein.
