Student Membership
Any student of shorthand reporting who is certified by a court reporter training program instructor or director as being currently enrolled in said program. Memberships run January 1st through December 31st.

Jaye Thompson Student Scholarship

This scholarship is established by Texas Court Reporters Association (TCRA) to assist a court reporting student with education expenses and/or professional development expenses.

NOTE: Failure to strictly comply with eligibility criteria and essay requirements will result in disqualification.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must:
- Be a Texas resident and Student Member of TCRA by six (6) months prior to the Annual Business Meeting. The (year) Annual Business Meeting will be held (month, day, and year). The deadline for a scholarship applicant to be a member is (month, day, and year); (MARCH 11, 2026)
- Be reporting through use of shorthand machine method;
- Be reporting at a minimum of 100 wpm; and
- At time of application, be currently enrolled and in actual attendance in an in-person or online court reporting program and provide a professor/instructor verification form (on following page).
INELIGIBILITY CRITERIA ARE AS FOLLOWS:
- Any person who has received the Jaye Thompson Scholarship will be ineligible from the date of receipt for the next two annual Jaye Thompson Scholarship awards.
- Any person certified as a court reporter in Texas or any other state or having previously worked under any equivalent state or national licensure shall be ineligible.
- Present and past Student Committee members are ineligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Any student of machine shorthand reporting who is NOT currently verified by a court reporting school professor/instructor or director as being currently enrolled in a shorthand reporting program is ineligible.
