CSR Exam
Procedures
The exam registration process is two-fold.
First, applicants must apply for exam eligibility with the Court Reporters Certification Board (CRCB) http://www.crcb.state.tx.us/exam.asp.
Second, applicants must register for the certification exam with the Texas Court Reporters Association (TCRA), which is administering the certification exam on behalf of the Board.
Registration Steps
Written Exam Only
- Information
- Complete Request for Exam Assignment form and submit fee ($75) either online or by mail by the registration deadline.
Oral/Skills Exam Only
- Information
- Complete Request for Exam Assignment form and submit fee ($125) either online or by mail by the registration deadline.
- Complete Use of Computer Confidentiality Statement and Agreement form and mail to TCRA by the registration deadline. This 2-page form is to be completed only by those examinees who wish to use a computer for the CSR oral examination. If you wish to be eligible to bring a computer to the CSR oral examination, TCRA must receive this completed form no later than the registration deadline date. If we do not receive your form by the deadline date, you will be required to bring an acceptable typewriter for transcription. Faxes will not be accepted, THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
Both Exams- Written & Oral/Skills Exam

Refund Policy
Written requests for refund must be postmarked by registration cutoff date (30 days prior to the exam date). No refunds will be given to requests received after the deadline or for "no shows." In order to receive an exam fee refund, you must inform us (in writing) that you will be unable to attend the exam. This notice must be sent to TCRA before the exam registration deadline. If the notice is received after the deadline a refund would not be issued. Fees may not be applied to a future test date.
Registration
Before you are permitted to register for ANY CSR exam with TCRA, you will first need to be deemed eligible to sit for the exam by the Court Reporters Certification Board. Please refer to the CRCB's website at: http://www.crcb.state.tx.us/exam.asp.
